Last night we reported that DIRECTV NOW had dropped support for the 1st gen Fire Stick. Well, now according to AFTVnews it looks like DIRECTV NOW has also dropped support for the 1st gen Fire TV box. No explanation has been given but after an update, last night the 1st gen Fire TV owners found a message from DIRECTV NOW telling them they need to download the new DIRECTV NOW app.

At first many had hoped this meant the new DIRECTV NOW app with DVR was rolling out. Sadly DIRECTV NOW’s Twitter account says they have ended support for the 1st gen Fire TV.

Hopefully, this is temporary and the new DIRECTV NOW app will support the 1st gen Fire TV once again. We are reaching out to AT&T for comment and will update this story as we learn more.
