DIRECTV NOW Just Added More FOX & NBC Affiliates

Sometime this week DIRECTV NOW quietly added several FOX and NBC affiliates. As best we can tell Raycom Media owned Fox affiliates and Hearst owned NBC affiliates have started to go live on DIRECTV NOW.

Raycom-Media currently owns about 16 FOX affiliates across the United States. Hearst Television owns about 12 NBC affiliates across the united states. Now that does not mean all of them will be added as recently DIRECTV NOW has been rolling out affiliates as they are ready vs waiting till all of them are ready.

Update: So far we have confirmed that new affiliates have been added in Greensboro NC, Lancaster PA, and New Orleans.

This would be the 3rd time that DIRECTV NOW has added locals in the month of October. Last week they added 8 NBC affiliates and now are slowly adding affiliates from around the United States.

This puts DIRECTV NOW in a close battle with Hulu and PlayStation Vue for the most locals on a live TV streaming service. Recently both Hulu and DIRECTV NOW have been busy adding locals almost every week.

If you find a local that is being added please leave us a comment and let us know what you found. We have reached out to AT&T to inquire about what locals have been added and will post an update when we learn more.

I’ve found out that DIRECTV NOW accepts PayPal just like Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, but PSVue is PayPal-Unfriendly.

      • stumpy579 October 17, 2017 at 12:06 pm #

I have been subscribed to PSVue for around 20 months and have used PayPal with no issues from day one.

When I look at my subcribed list on my Dtv now phone app it’s shows Fox and nbc but when I go to the actual guide it doesn’t show at all wonder why?

think that’s normal, always said was subscribed to NBC and Telemundo, never have had Telemundo, and NBC just got recently….

    • Karl Childers October 17, 2017 at 9:22 am #

ABC, NBC, and FOX all appear in the networks list regardless of whether you have access to locals because they offer On-Demand content.

      • Malignar October 21, 2017 at 9:41 am #

I didn’t know this. Thanks for the info. It is very misleading listing all the networks on their channel page and then I try the free trial and only have ABC (Columbus, OH).

      What market/DMA are you in?

  3. Fred Koot October 17, 2017 at 7:54 am #

There has to be a point when they start charging broadcast fees, right.

Retransmission Consent is a controversial subject and still cancer to Pay TV.

DTVN has said from the beginning that there will be a point where they raise rates once they establish their lineup and subscriber base. I think a lot of people are going to freak out when they see the price of their package double in the not-too-distant future.

      • FranchisePlayer October 17, 2017 at 12:56 pm #

I’ve been wondering about this as well (DTVN raising prices) and hope it’s not too bad for those on the early $35/month plan. If it goes up too much they may freak out when they lose half their subscriber base.

How much higher can they go its already $60 to get regional sports and no Dvr.

Keep reading this myth of locals have yet to see them.

    • mnsportsgeek October 17, 2017 at 9:24 am #

You should move. I’ve got all 4.

      • Phuq_Me October 17, 2017 at 9:30 am #

That’s f–kin stupid. Nashville is a decent sized TV market and larger than many here that have locals. And considering that Vue, Hulu, Youtube, and even Fubo have at least one what is DTVN excuse?

    • JGaLaXY October 17, 2017 at 9:54 am #

exactly lol, i havent seen NOTHING in months

Hearst owns NBC here in Baltimore, but nothing is showing in the search or guide. Looking forward to when it shows up.

WBAL 11 home of Stan Stovall!

I am still waiting on the FOX station in Raleigh NC. Capital Broadcasting owns the FOX and NBC stations here. But only the NBC station is on DirecTV Now. I find the missing FOX station odd.

    • Spencer Karter October 17, 2017 at 11:41 am #

Do you love watch WRAL 5 (NBC)? My cousin, her husband (in the US Army) and son lives in Fort Bragg, NC.

      • swkerr October 17, 2017 at 2:19 pm #

Yes, The Raleigh area is lucky to have local ownership of the stations. Capital Broadcasting has invested heavily in the News division. They have the best local news I have ever seen. They have news on both the stations and do a great job covering local events and sports in the area. It is odd to travel to bigger cities and see how poor their local stations compare.

        • Spencer Karter October 18, 2017 at 9:51 am #

WRAL was the first to broadcast HDTV long ago, and last year with ATSC 3.0 too.

    • Johnny Jones October 17, 2017 at 11:48 am #

You must have noticed the WRAL is not listed now due to the broadcasting dispute between Capital and AT&T. So do not count on FOX in the near future. We may never get WRAL back.

      • swkerr October 17, 2017 at 6:22 pm #

I had not noticed that. I am really getting Locals from OTA and recording with Emby. Seems like WRAL has only been on a few weeks.

when merideth stations come, i’ll switch from PSV

    • Spencer Karter October 17, 2017 at 11:40 am #

Our local Fox Station WHNS 21 (Greenville, SC DMA) is owned by Meredith. I know that station is on Hulu Live TV and YouTubeTV in this market.

Has anyone any news of locals being added to Syracuse?

  9. October 17, 2017 at 11:26 am #

In Birmingham Hearst owns the NBC affiliate (WVTM-13) and Raycom owns the Fox affiliate (WBRC Fox 6). As of this moment, neither are appearing in a search from the DIRECTV NOW interface. Its been a long time coming, so hopefully the reports we are hearing are accurate.

  10. Spencer Karter October 17, 2017 at 11:39 am #

I hope WYFF 4 (Greenville, SC NBC station and Hearst Owned) is added on DIRECTV Now. Same story for WFXG 54 (Augusta, GA’s FOX station owned by Raycom Media) in Augusta, GA DMA and WVUE 8 (NOLA’s Fox Station, also Raycom Media owned) added in NOLA DMA.

San Antonio channel 12, KSAT, our ABC affiliate is now on DTVN.
