Couple relaxing in living room holding remote control and smilingLast night DIRECTV NOW rolled our a new update to Apple TV and iOS devices. The main news here is the version jumped from 1.xx to version 2.0. Now DIRECTV NOW has dropped the beta tag and replaced it with a splash screen welcoming beta users to the new DIRECTV NOW app.

From the looks of it, the new Apple TV 2.0 version is very similar to the previous beta version in look and feel. Some readers have reported fixes for some popular bugs, but overall it looks like AT&T is almost ready to roll out their new DIRECTV NOW app and DVR. The splash screen with 2.0 drops any mention of a 3rd stream option and promotes the new DVR.

One thing that is very interesting is that the new splash screen includes PBS in the image as seen in a post from /u/oowm on Reddit.

Comment from discussion New ios update.

Does this mean PBS is coming to DIRECTV NOW? Well, it is possible, but it is also just as possible that the imaging team took an image from DIRECTV and didn’t notice that PBS logo in the background. We recently talked with PBS, and they made it sound like PBS is not ready for live TV streaming services like DIRECTV NOW at this time, but they are working on it.
