DIRECTV NOW’s New App Promotes Buying More Streams in Error Message

Watching TV, Watching, Living Room, Domestic Life, SmilingFor some time now we have known that DIRECTV NOW was working on adding additional streams to their streaming services.

For a short time, DIRECT NOW’s website and beta apps even talked about the ability to buy additional streams. Later they removed the mentions of the additional streams but have continued to promote the new DVR that is on its way.

Now DIRECTV NOW has updated their error messages to promote the ability to upgrade to additional streams. If you go over the two stream limit you will see the following message in the beta app: “You have too many streams playing at once. Please close another stream or upgrade your subscription.”

We don’t have confirmation on exactly what the additional stream or streams will cost. Many say for $5 a month you will be able to get three streams at once. Others have hinted there may be a $10 a month package.

Recently DIRECTV NOW seems to be rushing to get many of the small back end details—from merging AT&T and DIRECTV NOW logins to updating error messages—ready for the launch of their new app and DVR.

According to AT&T, they still plan to launch the new DIRECTV NOW before the end of spring 2018. So they have just over a month but it looks like AT&T is hard at work putting the final touches on what seems to be a full relaunch of the DIRECTV NOW brand and service.
