Ahead of some major sports events, including the Super Bowl on February 13th and the NBA All Star Game on February 20th, DIRECTV STREAM is now offering a five day free trial. Cord cutters will now be able to get a preview of the service before signing on for a monthly subscription which starts at $69.99 per month.

Previously the streaming service did not offer a free trial, only a 14 day money back guarantee for those who signed up for the service and decided it wasn’t the right choice within the first two weeks.

With DIRECTV STREAM subscribers get live and on demand content, unlimited simultaneous streams for unlimited screens, the choice between four streaming plans, and optional add-ons including HBO Max, Showtime, and Epix.

The update comes just after fuboTV changed its pricing structure by only allowing new subscribers to sign up for quarterly plans rather than paying monthly. With that update along with Hulu’s recent price increase that also put it at $69.99 per month and the removal of its live TV free trial, DIRECTV STREAM is now even more competitive in the live TV streaming game.

The five day free trial is available only for new subscribers who sign up online. After the trial, service will continue at the normal rate unless you cancel online or by calling customer support.
