Disney+ is coming to Singapore after reaching a deal with local cable provider StarHub. Although no pricing details have been revealed, Variety reports a Feb. 23, 2021 launch date. The streamer will launch with 500 films and 15,000 episodes of content across the Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, National Geographic, Pixar and Star brands.

The Disney+ app will be available on TVs, broadband, and mobile, reaching most of the country’s population. StarHub touts that 70% of Singapore has access to 5G mobile services.

“We are excited to be the first and only fully-integrated quad-play service provider to raise the entertainment bar for our customers with Disney+, home to some of the most recognizable cultural brands in the world today,” said Johan Buse, StarHub’s chief of consumer business group. “With the growing ubiquity of ultra-responsive 5G, our customers will be able to experience true mobility and freedom, enjoying the freshest entertainment at the highest quality anytime, anywhere and on any screen.”

Singapore has been without Disney content since June 2020 when StarHub and Singtel’s cable TV couldn’t reach an agreement on carriage terms resulting in both carriers dropping Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, and Go Disney.

Disney+ plans to continue its global expansion, followed by Eastern Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea later this year.
