ESPN Adds Alexa Support to Their Fire TV App

Earlier today ESPN rolled out an update to their Fire TV app. With this update, ESPN adds Alexa support for ESPN and ESPN+. After the update Fire TV owners are greeted with a splash screen announcing the new Alexa support.

Now with this update, you can use your Alexa powered remote to control the ESPN app to launch streams or control playback.

What’s new in version 2.3.0

  • – Now with Alexa Support. ESPN allows you to tune to your favorite sporting event or show by using Alexa. By just asking Alexa to “tune” to your game or network, the ESPN app will start playback and allow you to fast forward, rewind, or even start your event over all with a single command.
  • – ESPN+: Stream thousands of live sports events (including MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA, golf, boxing, tennis, rugby and more), original shows or binge watch the entire 30 for 30 series. Start your free trial today!
  • – Find the top content across the entire ESPN universe in the Featured tab, personalized and curated just for you.
  • – ESPN+ subscribers have a new home in the ESPN+ tab, which delivers all the exclusive live and on-demand content straight to subscribers. The new Originals tab showcases the best of ESPN’s journalistic tradition and the original shows you know and love. Start binging the entire 30 for 30 library or explore new destinations for shows that include past episodes, highlights and more.
