Fans of soccer watching matchYesterday we learned Major League Soccer is shutting down their MLS live streaming service after striking a deal with ESPN+. Now Major League Soccer games will be streaming on ESPN’s new subscription streaming service ESPN+.

ESPN+ is said to launch in spring 2018 after the start of MLS season on March 3, 2018. Until ESPN+ launches, MLS matches will stream for free on MLSsoccer.com.

ESPN+ will cost $5 a month and will have about 10,000 sporting events each year, including content from the MLB, NHL, MLS, collegiate sports, and tennis’ Grand Slam events. Disney said last August it would launch its own ESPN video streaming service in early 2018. (That is as always subject to change.)

We still know little about the service and exactly what content it will carry. Although we know some of the sports it will offer the question now is will these be spring practice games or full games.

Cord cutters will have to wait and see what ESPN and Disney do next. For now, it looks like Disney is still trying to strike deals for their new live TV streaming service.
