Earlier this year, we reported that the National Lacrosse League will air exclusively on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States. From December 4, 2021, to April 22, 2022, ESPN+ will cover 100+ of the 139 NLL games. Games will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with about 6 games per week.
Subscribers to ESPN+ can watch all of the high-stakes drama and hard-hitting action of the upcoming NLL season for only $6.99 per month, or $69.99 annually. With the holidays approaching, an ESPN+ gift subscription is the perfect gift to watch lacrosse and more on the sport’s streaming service.
ESPN’s linear networks will feature a 10-game slate of the largest and most successful professional lacrosse property in the world, beginning on Saturday, December 11. The 10-games will appear on ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPNEWS throughout the 2021-22 NLL regular season.
“We are excited to announce the schedule of games to showcase all our U.S. franchises on ESPN’s linear networks as an integral part of the most comprehensive broadcast package in the history of the league,” said NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz. “These excellent matchups and time slots will give maximum exposure to our game and its amazing players and will further drive interest in the full slate of games fans can enjoy every weekend on ESPN+ as well as TSN in Canada.”
The league is looking to expand its audience and will feature Georgia Swarm and superstar Lyle Thompson four times across ESPN’s linear networks. The Panther City Lacrosse Club will be playing their inaugural season telecast from Dickies Arena. The Philadelphia Wings and New York Riptide will make three appearances each. Founded in 1986, the National Lacrosse League comprises 15 franchises across the US and Canada, and the league ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the NHL and NBA. The NLL plays “Box Lacrosse,” a variation of lacrosse where teams play in the confines of an ice rink rather than a field.
