Everything Coming to The Roku Channel for Free in August 2022

Roku is bringing more content to its free streaming service this month. Highlights include Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada; the Facebook origin story The Social Network; and celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse serving food to special guests in Emeril Live.

Action Movies

  • The Rock – A mild-mannered chemist and an ex-con must lead the counterstrike when a rogue group of military men, led by a renegade general, threaten a nerve gas attack from Alcatraz against San Francisco.
  • The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009) – Armed men hijack a New York City subway train, holding the passengers hostage in return for a ransom, and turning an ordinary day’s work for dispatcher Walter Garber into a face-off with the mastermind behind the crime.

  • The Devil Wears Prada – A smart but sensible new graduate lands a job as an assistant to Miranda Priestly, the demanding editor-in-chief of a high fashion magazine.
  • The Social Network – As Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea, and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.
  • Stepmom – A terminally-ill woman must deal with her ex-husband’s new lover, who will be their children’s stepmother.

  • Interview with the Vampire – A vampire tells his epic life story: love, betrayal, loneliness, and hunger.
  • Practical Magic – Two witch sisters, raised by their eccentric aunts in a small town, face closed-minded prejudice and a curse which threatens to prevent them ever finding lasting love.
  • My Son – Driving in the heart of the Highlands, Edmond Murray receives a call from his ex-wife, in tears. Their 7-year-old son went missing from a campsite. Soon it becomes clear that the child was kidnapped and the parents give way to despair.
  • Whiplash – A promising young drummer enrolls at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student’s potential.

  • Dead Poets Society – Maverick teacher John Keating uses poetry to embolden his boarding school students to new heights of self-expression.
  • I Can Do Bad All By Myself – When Madea catches sixteen-year-old Jennifer and her two younger brothers looting her home, she decides to take matters into her own hands.

  • Stuart Little – The Little family adopt a charming young mouse named Stuart, but the family cat wants rid of him.
