Recently we gave a first look at the new DIRECTV NOW app with DVR support. So far we have shown off the new DIRECTV NOW app with DVR support on iOS, Apple TV, and Fire TV.
Now we get our first look at the Android app, thanks to some readers who sent over a look at what the new DIRECTV NOW app and DVR will look like.
The following are a few highlights of what we know about the new DVR and app:
Supported Devices
We can confirm that DIRECTV NOW’s new DVR is being beta tested on the Apple TV, Android, iOS, Fire TV (2nd generation), Chrome browser, and the Chromecast.
Many devices, such as the Fire TV, have only recently been added. So far there is no word on Roku support.
Fast Forward & Live TV Pause
We have some good news: You can fast forward through commercials and pause live TV.
DVR Storage
According to beta testers, the current DVR storage is 100 hours. Sling TV’s DVR beta also offered 100 hours, but when it went live it only offered 50 hours. We will need to wait for the official announcement to find out what the DIRECTV NOW storage limits will be.
The New App
From what we have seen the new app replaces the dark background with a white/light gray look; however, the Apple TV app still offers a darker look.
