FREE Morning Cartoons Are Coming Back to Over-the-Air TV

If you grew up in the early 2000s or before you likely remember morning cartoons being a big part of your day. Sadly over the last 10 or so years more cartoon shows have slowly been replaced on most broadcast TV stations.

Now Sinclair Broadcast Group and MGM are teaming up to launch a daily morning cartoon block called KidsClick. This new kids’ block of TV will air on 170+ Sinclair-owned stations and be streamed online through ThisTV’s website.

KidsClick will air daily across broadcast television, online, pay TV, mobile, and over-the-top (OTT). KidsClick will air Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

“The broadcast industry was the original destination for children’s programming, and we are very excited to once again play a meaningful role in offering such important, high-quality content,” said Steve Marks, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Sinclair’s television group, in a statement. “Our decision to re-enter the kids’ space with KidsClick is a natural step for Sinclair as we expand our reach to the next generation of broadcast viewers. More importantly, our KidsClick platform offers parents an option for high-quality, well-known, carefully vetted content and brands.”

“ThisTV is thrilled to be a broadcast partner for Sinclair’s new children’s block, KidsClick,” said John Bryan, president of domestic television distribution for MGM, in statement. “As ThisTV continues to evolve, KidsClick gives our audience more choices with established brands and introduces them to some exciting new children’s programming.”

KidsClick will go live on July 1, 2017 at 7 a.m. with your first look at the new morning cartoon block.

2nd that. Becouse my guess is it will be a lot of PC stuff. That is more aimed at brainwasing 3-8 year olds.

This is exciting. The only current kids shows are mainly from Disney and they are TOTAL CRAP. It’s about time these companies realize old cartoons, and other old programming for that matter, are assets and people like them.

Not everything about, or in, the past needs to change. Being an adult now and using Netflix and Hulu I didn’t realize that the weekend morning cartoons were gone. I’m glad they are bringing it back.

I have no clue what Sinclair Broadcasting and This TV website are. Will this air on any OTT services like Sling, PS Vue, July, or DTV Now?

This article assumes that Kidsclick will be all cartoons. The Sinclair news release states in part “…The content will consist of an ever-growing list of long- and short-form video content that is appropriate for kids and advertisers, with an industry-exclusive hyper-local advertising/promotional component through Sinclair’s 170+ station websites as well as ThisTV’s website…” I don’t read that as meaning all cartoons.

Am I understanding this right? The OTA channel ThisTV will offer this KidsClick cartoon block though Sinclair programming.

You’ve all completely taken the news out of context! At no point have they mentioned that this block will air animation (a la Kids’ WB, Fox Kids, etc). I also don’t know why everyone in this comment section is getting hyped: it’s a CHILDREN’S block, not “Boomerang for College Kids”!

If anything, the only animation to be found on this block are kiddy shows not airing on Qubo.

Here’s the lineup: Clearly not a retro themed block.
