In an effort to bring news, information, and entertainment to families right now, Amazon has been extending free trials, promoting free content, and making even more content free for a limited time.

Free Trials

Many app are currently offering extended free trials and special discounts, giving everyone in the family plenty of options for staying entertained.

Free Trials for Entertainment

  • SHOWTIME is offering a 30-day extended free trial (normally 7 days) through May 2nd. After that, it’s $10.99.
  • CBS All Access is offering a 30-day extended free trial (normally 7 days) through April 14th. After that, plans start at $5.99/month.

Free Trials and Discounts for Kid Friendly Content

  • Prime Video is making a selection of kids and family content available free to watch on Prime Video for all Amazon customers. Read more HERE.
  • Audible is offering an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages for kids ages 0–18. All stories are free to stream from the Audible app on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.
  • Amazon FreeTime Unlimited is offering a 3-month family plan for $0.99 through April 15th. Read more about the offer HERE.
  • PBS Kids is offering an extended 30-day free trial (normally 7 days) through April 14th.
  • ABC Mouse is offering a 30-day free trial and 62% off their annual subscription ($45/year). Perfect for children ages 2–8, ABCmouse.com is the award-winning learning app for reading, math, art, music, and more.
  • Minecraft is offering three free adapted lessons: Education Edition, including the Human Eye, International Space Station, and Starter Town. They have also included ten worlds from the Marketplace creator community that explore renewable energy, marine biology, Greek history, and more.
  • Toca Boca is offering their farm game for $0.99 for a limited time. Work and play the farmer’s way with Toca Life: Farm. Milk your cows, gather eggs, play the fiddle, and hit the hay right from your living room. Available on Fire Tablet, not on Fire TV.
  • Sago Mini Big City is offering their city game for $0.99 for a limited time. Bright lights, busy streets, and sky-high skyscrapers — that’s Sago Mini Big City! Take a ride on the bus, grab lunch at the diner, then explore the museum. Available on Fire Tablet, not on Fire TV.

Free Trials for Music

  • Pandora is offering a 30-day trial of Pandora Plus (ad-free but no ability to make and share playlists), and a 60-day trial of Pandora Premium (ad-free and ability to make playlists).
  • iHeart Radio is offering 30-day trials of Plus (does not include offline listening, unlimited access to songs, or playlist abilities) and All-Access.

Unlocked Content

For a limited time, some apps have unlocked paid content so all customers can watch with no additional fees. Some do require you to be a current app subscriber (most offer a free trial).

  • CBS News
  • Fox News
  • NBC News
  • ABC News app
  • The Washington Post
  • The News app on Fire TV offers a free, customizable news experience that includes video clips and live feeds from multiple providers like CBS News, HuffPost, Bloomberg, Yahoo News, and more. Just say, “Alexa, play the news.”

Unlocked Sports Content

  • NFL is giving complimentary access to its NFL Game Pass streams through May 31. This is available to U.S. and international fans, providing access to past full regular and postseason game broadcasts, NFL Originals and more.
  • NBA is offering free access to NBA Game Pass streaming content from the 2019–20 season through April 22. Fans are invited to sign up and sign in via NBA.com or the NBA app on supported devices.

Unlocked Entertainment Content

  • A&E— catch up on past seasons of 60 Days In and Hoarders for free, available now through 6/30.
  • History— catch up on episodes of Ancient Aliens for free, available now through 6/30.
  • Lifetime— Watch every episode of Dance Moms and Bring it for free, and catch up on past seasons of Married at First Sight for free, available now through 5/9.
  • PBS is streaming Ken Burns’ four-part film Baseball for free.
  • Prime members can also watch the first season of select series each month. These are the shows available beginning April 1:
