Recently fuboTV rolled out a major update to their Apple TV app with a fresh look, new guide, and a more powerful set of DVR options.
With this upgrade, fuboTV subscribers can now enjoy the following on Apple TV:
- Enhanced EPG(electronic programming guide) featuring a new vertical design with the ability to look up to seven days ahead.
- Network Pagesthat allow viewers to surf content via the EPG/Channel view but also the new Network view by selecting a network of their choice and seeing all of its available live and VOD content. (Note: In addition to Apple TV, this feature is available via the web.)
Now fuboTV says this updated app has seen a 53% growth in average hours streamed per user per month. Not only that but fuboTV has jumped up to the number one top grossing sports app on the Apple TV. They are also now the seventh overall behind only Netflix, Hulu, HBO, CBS, SHOWTIME, and STARZ.
A lot of this may come because many streaming services do not let you sign up through iTunes but force you to sign up on their site and login on devices like the Apple TV. With that said there are many services that do let you pay through iTunes, and this jump in fuboTVs ratings should not be discounted.
fuboTV has slowly been growing their service to include more device support, channels, and packages that cord cutters want. They may still be the underdog, but they are slowing building a service cord cutters want.
fuboTV did not stop with the Apple TV and has also rolled out their new app and user interface to Roku players. More devices will be seeing the new app rolled out in the future.
