HBO Max Finally Set a Date for the ‘Friends’ Reunion Special

After a year of waiting, including teases, sweepstakes giveaways, and postponed production, HBO Max has set a date for the Friends Reunion Special. Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, and Joey are coming back together for the first time on May 27, 2021 exclusively on HBO Max.

“Friends” stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer return to the iconic comedy’s original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank for a real-life unscripted celebration of the beloved show.

And when Courteney Cox revealed there would be surprises, she wasn’t kidding. HBO Max announced that FRIENDS: THE REUNION will feature a variety of special guests including David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.

The show was originally set to start taping shortly after the reunion was announced early last spring but was delayed when the first wave of COVID-19 cases burst onto the scene. After more postponed dates, the special finally wrapped shooting and set its release date on the one-year anniversary since HBO Max’s launch.
