hbo-logoCord Cutters News had an opportunity yesterday to talk with a representative of HBO Now at INTX 2015. During our conversation we had talked with them about the future of HBO Now, and plans to support additional devices like the Roku and Fire TV.

HBO Now made it clear that while they do not have an official end date for Apple exclusivity, they do plan to be available on a wide range of devices. The main device that was mentioned by the HBO Now representative was the Roku. When describing the plans for the Roku, HBO Now repeatedly stated they hope to have it available “soon”.

From the context of the conversation it sounded like the announcement could be released in weeks rather than months. When asked about availability on other odevices, they remained non committal and said they needed to strike deals first with providers.

From the way the conversation went it sounds like HBO does not want to handle the payment end, leaving that up to services like Apple and Roku; possibly explaining why Apple received a period of exclusivity in exchange for a better rate from Apple.

Hopefully, soon, HBO fans will be able to watch HBO Now on their Roku with an official HBO Now Channel.
