HDHomeRun Premium TV, SkyStream TV, & More Are All Down Right Now

Details are thin, but HDHomeRun posted on their support forums that there is an issue and that “Upstream has stated that there is a major network issue. We are continuing to push.”

Update: the services are coming back online but are still having issues with the quality. We will continue to post updates as we learn more.

Update #2: SkyStream TV says their services is now back online without issues.

Exactly what Upstream means is unknown right now, but it is possibly an issue with their Omniverse partners who offer the content streamed on services like HDHomeRun Premium TV. If this is true, it is likely that all or most of Omniverse partners are currently affected by the outage.

Cord Cutters News has reached out for comment and will update this story as we learn more. Have you noticed other Omniverse services affected by this outage? Leave us a comment and let us know which services are down right now.

This outage comes at an interesting time for these services. About two weeks ago ACE’s whos members include AMC, CBS, HBO, NBCUniversal, Fox, Disney, and many others sued Omniverse saying they do not have the rights for the channels they are streaming through services like HDHomeRun Premium TV, TikiLive, and SkyStream TV to name a few. Last week Amazon removed these apps from their app store including the HDHomeRun app.

Since the lawsuit happens most of the services, who use Omniverse and Omniverse themselves have not publicly commented. Last week that changed as Theodore D. Head the President of Silicondust who operates the HDHomeRun Premium TV services sent Cord Cutters News the following statement: “Yes we are aware of the situation from last week.  SiliconDust is not a party of the lawsuit, but we can be indirectly affected by Omniverse not able to continue their service and so we are in the process of finding out a way to best mitigate any potential interruptions to our service and will let our customers know as soon as we know if there will be any change to the current services”

Cord Cutters News will continue to monitor the situation and post updates as we learn more.
