After you buy your new modem, call Comcast at 1-800-934-6489 and they will help you set it up and tell you how you can return your rented modem. So now the question is what cable modems work with Comcast?
Update: A few readers have pointed out that Comcast now lets you register your modem online. All you have to do is open your browser and try to access a website after you connect your new modem. Just make sure to carefully follow the instructions on the screen. Last time I had Comcast this was not an option.
