BritBox is adding an exciting new lineup slated for May, including the premiere of its new original crime drama series  A Confession, based on a true story and starring Emmy Award winner Martin Freeman. The service is also adding seasons 9-12 of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, making it the exclusive home to the beloved full series.

Here’s a full list of May’s new additions:

  • May 1, 2020: 35 Days S4 | 8 x 60 (BritBox Exclusive, North American Premiere)

In this exciting new series, a jury retires to deliberate and consider the evidence set before them in a gruesome murder case. Little do they know that within 35 hours one of them will be dead at the hands of one of the other jurors. Their first vote highlights their deep division. Who will influence who? Who will have the loudest voices? Who will harbour deep prejudices? Deep enough to kill in cold blood?

  • May 6,  2020:  Florence Nightingale| 1 x 90 (New To BritBox)

Celebrating her bicentennial birthday, this biopic drama, directed by Emmy Award winner Norman Stone (Shadowland), focuses on the early years of Florence Nightingale, from 1837 to the Royal Commission into the Crimean War. Largely based on her own words, it tells the true and unexpected story behind the creator of modern nursing.

  • May 12, 2020: A Confession | 6 x 60 (Original, BritBox Exclusive, North American Premiere)

After a night out with friends, 22-year-old Sian O’Callaghan disappeared. When her worried boyfriend reports her missing, Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher, played by Martin Freeman (Black Panther, Sherlock) begins to piece together her last movements. Believing Sian may still be alive and being held somewhere against her will, Fulcher initiates an urgent full-scale search operation which leaves him at the crux of a life-changing choice between following police protocol and catching a killer.

  • May 15, 2020: Poirot S9-12 | 12 x 120  (New to BritBox, BritBox Exclusive)

David Suchet in his signature role as Agatha Christie’s Belgian detective Hercule Poirot – the super sleuth who, with an expertly twirled mustache and a theatrical flair, solves murders with penetrating perception and no small amount of self-regard.

  • May 16, 2020: Poirot: Mysterious Affair at Styles| 1 x 103  (New to BritBox, BritBox Exclusive)

Agatha Christie’s first published book introducing Hercule Poirot is set in a beautiful stately home in the war-torn England of 1917. The Mysterious Affair at Styles also establishes one of the most successful partnerships in literary history – the enduring friendship and working collaboration between Hercule Poirot, Arthur Hastings and Inspector Japp. Hastings is recovering from his war injuries when he receives an invitation to visit his old friends the Cavendish family at Styles St Mary.  Staying nearby as guests of the Cavendish’s are a group of Belgian refugees, including, much to Hastings’ surprise, his old acquaintance from the Belgian police, celebrated detective Hercule Poirot.

  • May 19, 2020: At Last the 1948 Show  (New to BritBox)

Fellow Pythons John Cleese, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graham Chapman star in this classic satirical comedy that would change TV comedy forever and inspire several sketch comedies, including Monty Python sketches.

  • May 22, 2020: Line of Duty S1-4 | 22 x 60 (New to BritBox, North America)

If you think catching criminals is tough, try catching police officers. Set in the fictional police anti-corruption unit AC-12, Line of Duty is a cat-and-mouse thriller that takes a probing look into modern policing and corruption. The cast includes Vicky McClure (Broadchurch), Martin Compston (Victoria), Thandie Newton (Crash), Keeley Hawes (Tipping the Velvet), Lennie James (The Walking Dead)  and Kelly Macdonald (The Victim).
