How Discovery+ Content will Boost HBO Max’s Library After the Merger

Earlier this week we reported on the Discovery+ and HBO Max merger that is set to combine the libraries of both streaming services into one. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels said although the company is unsure if the merge will take place as a single sign on or simply combining the content libraries, it won’t just be a bundle deal between the two services.

Discovery+ focuses on real-life entertainment with genres like home, relationships, food, reality, and more. Meanwhile, HBO Max‘s library is stacked with new Originals like The Flight Attendant, The White Lotus, Gossip Girl, and HBO dramas including the wildly popular Euphoria and Succession.

With that in mind, it’s interesting to look at the most popular shows on Discovery+ that will be joining HBO Max’s killer library, and how they could boost even more viewership and subscriptions.

Here are the top 10 shows viewers have been watching the most on Discovery+, according to Whip Media:

1. 90 Day: The Single Life

2. Ghost Hunters

3. Ghost Adventures

4. Paranormal Caught on Camera

5. The Haunted Museum

6. Love Off the Grid

7. 90 Day Bares All

8. Drag Race Italy

9. Love In Paradise: The Caribbean

10. American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda

Adding more reality style shows to the mix of HBO Max’s already-stellar lineup will bring even more variety to the expanding library, giving whatever product comes out of the Discovery+/HBO Max merger a good set up for success.

Discovery+ is currently priced at $4.99 per month with ads or $6.99 without ads. The service primarily focuses on nonfiction programming. HBO Max currently costs $9.99 per month with ads or $14.99 a month without ads. HBO’s service features HBO content, originals, movies, and more.
