How Many Devices Can You Watch Disney Plus On? Simultaneous Streams, Profiles & More

Since Disney Plus debuted on November 12th last year, the service has taken off in much the way one might expect from a Disney product — which is to say like gangbusters. Aside from the plethora of Disney catalog films and shows, there’s an extensive amount of original entertainment being produced by the service as well.

Having purchased Marvel back in 2009, you can not only find nearly all of your Marvel Universe films on Disney Plus, you will also soon be able to enjoy stand-alone series based on Marvel characters on the network. And of course, on September 4th of this year, Disney Plus released its long-awaited live-action version of Mulan for streaming to a rapturous response. The network also waded into the kind of old school live-action Disney fare one might recall from the ’60s and ’70s with the fact-based inspirational “man and his dog” rescue film, Togo — and there’s a lot more where that came from.

As with any streaming service, there are always questions about access. How many devices can use Disney Plus? We’ll answer that question along with a few others (such as how many people can use Disney+ at one time) to give you a good grasp of all that’s possible with the service.

Disney Plus watching limits

First things first: What types of devices can you use to access Disney Plus? As one would expect from perhaps the most successful entertainment brand ever, the service means to make itself as accessible as possible. Which means you can turn to all of the usual suspects, including apps on your mobile device, smart TVs, streaming services, game consoles, and the good old internet. When considering Disney plus, how many devices support the platform may be a factor for you. We include a full list of supported devices later in this article.

About the price tag: you can stream Disney Plus on a monthly basis for $6.99, or purchase a yearly plan for $69.99 (the yearly rate saves you about $14 over a 12-month cycle). You can upgrade your plan to include Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99/mo. You can find a side-by-side comparison of the basic Disney Plus package and the Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Hulu upgrade here

You might also be wondering how many people can watch Disney Plus at once. One of the great features of the service is that you can have as many as four different devices streaming at the same time — that matches Netflix’s premium service, beats Amazon Prime by one, and Hulu by two—making Disney+ a big family-friendly platform.

Currently, Disney Plus does not offer live TV through its service unless you purchase the Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu bundle. To sign up for this package as a new subscriber, simply follow these steps:

Go to Hulu’s sign up page and click on “Sign up now.” Enter the requested personal information and submit your payment info. Activate Disney+ and ESPN+, and you are ready to start watching! All three services have user-friendly interfaces, so you should be able to find your favorite movies and shows with ease.

However, if you are already a Hulu subscriber with Live TV, you can simply add the Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu bundle to your current plan. If so, the monthly cost for the upgrade is $12.99 (the same as going through Disney+).

What devices can I use to stream Disney Plus?

The great news is quite a few! For those unsure of how many devices can use Disney Plus, here’s a comprehensive list:

  • Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablets
  • Amazon smart TVs
  • Android smartphones and tablets
  • Android TV
  • Apple TV
  • Apple AirPlay
  • Google Chromebooks
  • Google Chromecast
  • iPad and iPhone
  • LG and smart TVs
  • Roku streaming devices and Roku TV
  • Samsung smart TVs
  • Sony Playstation 4
  • Vizio Smartcast TV
  • Web browsers: Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer
  • Xbox

How many user profiles can I have on Disney Plus?

How many profiles on Disney Plus can you have? More than you might expect! You can have up to seven individual profiles on a single account. That compares favorably to the maximum of five on Netflix, and six on both Amazon Prime and Hulu. Disney Plus will also provide personal recommendations for each profile and create separate watchlists for individual users — making each user’s profile unique to their own tastes.

Can I download content on my devices?

Yes, albeit with some limitations. You can download shows and movies on as many as 10 different devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android phones, and Android tablets (including Amazon Fire tablets). While Disney does allow you to download as many programs as your device’s storage allows, you will need to connect to the internet every 30 days to maintain the availability of your downloads. To be fair, that’s probably not the heaviest lift in this day and age (who among us does not access the internet on a regular basis?), but subscribers should be aware of that small caveat.

The final cut

Disney+ has already proven tremendously popular, with over 50 million signing up in less than a year since its inception. Its unique programming options and the flexibility the service offers has made the streaming service a hit with subscribers (having the catalogs of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel under one roof is, of course, an enormous asset). Not only can you watch Disney+ on a wide variety of devices, but it beats any other service with how many profiles on Disney Plus you are allowed to have (7!) — and the service matches Netflix with how many screens on Disney plus can be used at one time (4). With all of these features and options, it’s no surprise that the service has taken off like a rocket.
