How to stream Disney Plus on Samsung Smart TV

Disney Plus is a family favorite video-on-demand (VOD) streaming service packed full of beloved movies and shows from the colossal Disney Vault. And let’s not forget the Marvel and Star Wars Universes, along with National Geographic to boot. The Walt Disney Company sweetens the deal for streaming junkies by offering the Disney Plus bundle that incorporates ESPN+ and Hulu, all for one modest monthly fee. While you can’t get a free trial of Disney Plus anymore, the modest price of just $6.99/mo. (or $12.99/mo. for the bundle) is more than reasonable.

Like Netflix, Disney+ is available on most major devices including smart TVs. If you’re here to find out how to watch Disney Plus on Samsung Smart TV, you’ve come to the right place! Keep reading to discover the process.

How to get Disney Plus on Samsung TV

To start streaming Disney Plus, all you need to do is navigate to the Apps section of your screen to find and download the app. However, if the app doesn’t populate, then you’ll need to use an alternative method like a Roku streaming device.

  1. Start up your Samsung Smart TV and select the Apps section from the menubar.
  2. To search the app, click on the Seach icon which resembles a magnifying glass.
  3. An on-screen keyboard will appear. Type “Disney Plus” and tap Enter
  4. Select the Disney Plus app and click Install

Can you watch Disney Plus on older Samsung Smart TV models?

Depending on the model of your Samsung Smart TV, Disney Plus may not be available. So, if your model is too outdated, you’ll need to find another way to watch — don’t worry, there are many! This is pretty much the case for all Samsung Smart TVs that predate 2016.

The most popular alternative method to stream apps on your TV is with a streaming device. We recommend devices produced by Amazon, Google, and Roku.

For instance, the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K is an easily concealable device that plugs into your TV’s HDMI port and is capable of streaming content in 4K resolution. Google Chromecast comes in the form of a dongle and lets you use your smartphone or tablet to cast and stream content to your TV. Roku provides the widest range of devices, even if your TV is so old that it doesn’t have an HDMI port. The Roku Express+ comes with composite cables allowing you to stream your apps the same way you would with a newer model.

How to download Disney Plus content on Samsung Smart TV

Do you struggle with bouts of weak Wi-Fi connectivity? Or, would you like to download a movie to take on the go? The ability to download content offline is a particularly useful feature. And Disney Plus is one of the more generous streaming apps out there when it comes to downloading content for offline viewing.

In fact, you can download an unlimited number of applicable episodes and movies as you desire on your mobile device. Yes, you read that right: unlimited. We should also note that this feature works with up to 10 separate devices. Just be aware that it’s only usable with Android and iOS apps. This means you can’t actually download Disney Plus content to your Samsung TV for later viewing, which is kind of a bummer.

Still, if you’re interested in downloading titles on other devices, the process is simple. Say you want to download 101 Dalmations to watch later. Search the movie with the search tool. Next to each title that’s available for download, there’ll be a Download icon (a downward pointing arrow facing a horizontal line). When you download the movie, it’ll be made available in a folder at the bottom of the app’s menu screen. So, to clarify, all offline content is located in the app itself.

As soon as 101 Dalmations finishes downloading, all you need to do is tap the Play button to start streaming. When you’re finished, just delete the title from the folder.

In addition to Disney Plus, there are a few other apps that include offline download capabilities. Just bear in mind that it’s usually select titles that are available for download, rather than entire content libraries. These include apps like CBS All Access, ESPN+, and Hulu

The final cut

You can watch your favorite Disney programming with Disney Plus on Samsung TV select models. If you have a compatible Samsung TV, Disney Plus is an excellent option for all your entertainment needs. Even if you have a Samsung Smart TV model that’s older than 2016, you can still access the service with a streaming device, like Amazon Fire TV, to use the Disney Plus app.

Disney Plus no longer offers a free trial period. Competing services like CBS All Access and Hulu typically offer anywhere from one week to 30 days. But for just $6.99/mo., you get complete access to all content and features, including titles available in 4K. And if you’re unsatisfied, you have the option to cancel and end your subscription at any time, no questions asked.
