The Nintendo Switch is a video game console that’s portable for gameplay on the go, and also comes with a home dock to play games on a larger screen at home. Like many other game consoles, you can use the Nintendo Switch to stream TV and movies.

There are very few streaming services on the Nintendo Switch and for now, Hulu is the only streaming service that is compatible with the device. Here’s how you can stream content on your Switch, with a Hulu subscription.

Get Set Up

After you’ve set up your Switch, download the Hulu app from the Nintendo eShop or on the Nintendo website.

Open the Hulu app on the Home screen and log in to your account. New users can sign up for a free trial.

Select the option to activate the Nintendo Switch on a computer or log in on your Switch.

Follow the onscreen prompts to log in.

Set Parental Controls

You can restrict access to the Hulu app with parental controls. Select the Parental Controls menu and set the restriction level to child or pre-teen. You can also use custom settings, selecting games rated for ages 13+ to restrict usage.

Having Trouble Streaming?

If you’re having playback issues, it could be an internet speed issue. For on-demand content, Hulu recommends a minimum download speed of 1.5 Mbps for streaming Standard Definition videos and 3.0 Mbps or higher for High Definition videos. For live TV content, Hulu recommends a download speed of 8 Mbps or higher for a reliable, high-quality viewing experience. Please keep in mind that multiple concurrent streams may require higher bandwidth.
