Scholastic’s official mascot has made his way to the big screen and mobile devices with Clifford the Big Red Dog. The family comedy is based on Norman Bridwell’s children’s book series of the same name and is about a middle schooler’s friendship with a gigantic red dog.
Directed by Walt Becker, the film stars Darby Camp as Emily Elizabeth Howard, a 12-year-old girl who adopts the big red canine. Jack Whitehall joins the cast as Emily’s good-natured uncle, Casey Howard. Other big names in supporting roles include Tony Hale, Russell Peters, Kenan Thompson, David Alan Grier, and Rosie Perez.
Originally, the film was scheduled for a November 13, 2020 release date but was pushed back to September 2020 due to the pandemic. Things did not go as planned, as the Big Red Dog was going to make his world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, followed by a September 17 theatrical release, however, the September premiere at the festival was canceled and the release date was pushed back once again.

Clifford the Big Red Dog is set to be released in theaters nationwide, and available for streaming on Paramount+ on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
