After losing to Oklahoma State in a thrilling showdown at the 2022 Fiesta Bowl, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish look to make a statement during the upcoming college football season, but first, the team will take the field in the 93rd Blue-Gold Game. After a month filled with 15 practices, the annual scrimmage is a culmination of hard work as the team prepares for the grind of the 12-game season.

This will be the first Blue-Gold Game under new head coach Marcus Freeman and it may feature a positional showdown between QBs Tyler Buchner (Junior) and Drew Pyne (Sophmore). Both players are looking to make their case on who should be the starter for the upcoming season, but Buchner is dealing with an ankle injury and may not be available to take the field.

Play-by-play duties will be handled by Tony Simeone, with Fighting Irish alumni and former NFL offensive lineman Ryan Harris joining him in the booth as an analyst. Caroline Pineda will be handling sideline reporting and will interview first-year head coach Marcus Freeman, who will also be mic’d up, during the game. Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and defensive coordinator Al Golden will also be interviewed during the scrimmage.
