Week 9 of the 2020-21 NBA regular season continues with a schedule of 9 games tonight, including a national doubleheader. Teams from both conferences will be on the hardwood including the best teams from both conferences. The NBA on ESPN will be the home of tonight’s national doubleheader with an Eastern Conference showdown when Joel Embiid’s 19-10 76ers host Zach Levine’s 12-15 Bulls. After losing 3-straight games, the Sixers are coming off a 118-113 victory over the Rockets. With Ben Simmons not available to play in tonight’s game, the Sixers will have to step up their defensive effort to slow down Levine who is averaging 28.5 points per game this season.
The second game of ESPN’s doubleheader will directly follow at 10:00 p.m. ET in a Western Conference showdown when the 21-9 Clippers host the 24-5 Jazz. The Jazz have the best record in the NBA with Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert leading the team in points and rebounds, respectively. The Clippers have been bit by the injury bug and will be without Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in tonight’s game.
There are a couple of games across the league that NBA fans will want to keep an eye on. At 7:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports Southeast, and NBC Sports Boston, the 12-16 Hawks travel to take on the 14-14 Celtics. The Hawks were on a 4-game losing streak until they defeated the Celtics 122-114 on Wednesday night. Expect the Celtics to change their fortunes tonight.
Another Western Conference matchup to look out for will tip-off at 8:00 p.m. ET when the 12-16 Pelicans host the 17-10 Suns. After winning 6-straight games, the Suns’ streak ended in a heartbreaking 128-124 loss against the Nets. Chris Paul, Devin Booker and the Suns will be looking to pick things back up against Zion Williamson’s Pelicans team in this rubber match.
