The 2020 college football season has been a season like no other as we approach bowl season. Before we reach the 2020 College Football Playoff and the bowl games, the upcoming championship week will decide the fate of a few teams in the top 25. Arguably, the most important championship game will be the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship game where No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Clemson face off this afternoon at 4pm on ABC.

The ACC championship winner has gone on to play in the National Championship Game or College Football Playoff in each of the previous seven seasons, with 3 of those teams going on to win the National Championship.

The 2020 ACC Championship game is a week 8 rematch between the 7-1 Clemson Tigers and the 7-0 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In their November 7, 2020 matchup, the Fighting Irish defeated the Tigers in front of a home crowd in South Bend, Indiana by a score of 47-40 in double overtime.

The game will be played on a neutral field in front of a limited capacity crowd of only 5,240 fans. For those who are not going to be in attendance, we have you covered on how to watch the 2020 ACC Championship game from home.

Our prediction: Tigers pounce as the Fighting Irish’s luck runs out.

When these 2 teams matched up over a month ago, Clemson started backup QB D.J. Uiagalelei since starting QB Trevor Lawrence had tested positive for COVID-19. Uiagaleli was impressive during that game as he completed 29/44 passes for 439 passing yards and 3 TDs (2 passing and 1 rushing), but ladies and gentlemen the former CFP National Championship Offensive MVP Trevor Lawrence is back.

In his junior season, Lawrence is having one of the best seasons of his legendary career.  His passer rating, completion percentage, and yards per pass attempt are at career highs. He has missed a few games due to COVID, but he does not look like he’s missed a step since his return. Many scouts consider him to be the top overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

There is a lot riding on this game because a loss is sure to knock one of these teams out of the top 4 of the College Football Playoff rankings. Notre Dame won their last meeting in double overtime on their home field against a backup freshman quarterback. The 2020 ACC Championship game will not be as lucky for the Fighting Irish. Clemson wins a thriller 38-36.
