How to watch the Kansas City Chiefs without cable in 2021

nfl

Last season was huge for the Chiefs. They won it all for the first time in 50 years and earned head coach Andy Reid his first Super Bowl ring. The new season is coming up fast, and this year Chiefs fans have many ways to tune in without shelling out the extra bucks for cable TV subscription.

Now is the perfect time to cut the cable and make the switch to streaming. We’ll walk through all of the channels you’ll need to watch the Chiefs play this year, as well as where out-of-market fans can find those channels, and how to catch the live games through streaming services.

What channels show the Kansas City Chiefs games?

The three main channels showing Chiefs games this season are CBS, FOX, and NBC. According to the schedule, the Chiefs will play nine games on CBS, two games on FOX, and three games on NBC.

Aside from games on the main channels, the week three game against the Ravens will be broadcast on ESPN, and the week six game against the Bills will be on NFL Network.

Local Channels

Fans who are in the Chiefs market should be able to watch most of these games for free with local channels—all you’ll need is a digital TV antenna to plug into your TV. For those outside of the Chiefs market, you can still watch the games live, but you’ll need to stream them using a streaming service subscription.

Since most of the games will be on CBS, FOX, and NBC, we’ll focus on streaming services that include those channels. But since a few games will not aired on regular network TV, you’ll need access to ESPN and NFL Network if you don’t want to miss any of the action.

Best Streaming Services to watch the Chiefs

fuboTV and Hulu + Live TV are both solid options for Chiefs fans that will provide most if not all of the channels needed to watch the games, but there’s plenty more to choose from. We’ll run through the channels included in different streaming service options, so you can see how they stack up.

Hulu is a video-streaming service, but with the the Live TV add-on, you can use Hulu to watch football games as they unfold.

CBS, FOX, and NBC are available with Hulu Live TV, so you’ll be able to see all of the Chiefs games that are broadcast on standard channels. It’s important to note that live games will only be accessible through the Live TV add-on, not the basic Hulu subscription by itself.

There are a few locations where Hulu includes local CBS, FOX, and NBC channels with their Live TV add-on, so Chiefs fans in some regions will be able to tune in to games via local broadcasts. Make sure to check your Hulu subscription to see if this applies to your area.

The key channels Hulu Live TV lacks are NFL Network and NFL RedZone. Since  Thursday evening games and Saturday doubleheaders are broadcast on NFL Network, these games will not be viewable with a Hulu Live TV subscription. However, NBC’s Sunday Night Football and ESPN’s Monday Night Football are both available to watch with Hulu Live TV.

Hulu + Live TV is $54.99 per month, and the service comes with a free trial. Keep in mind that you’ll also need a streaming device such as Roku or Amazon Fire TV Stick to watch with your smart TV.
