We’re halfway through the 2021 MLB Season as the long-awaited All-Star break is finally here. This week’s All-Star game will have the MLB’s best players slugging it out to determine which league is the superior league of the 2021 season. Also known as the Midsummer Classic, this will be the first MLB All-Star Game since the 2019 season after the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic.

Outside of the pandemic, there were other obstacles and a major change made to get to the 91st All-Star Game. The game was originally scheduled to be held at Truist Field in Atlanta, Georgia but MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced in April that it would be relocated to Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. This will be the second All-Star game to be hosted at Coors Field after the 1998 contest, which the American League won 13-8.

Los Angeles Angels sensation Shohei Ohtani has quickly become one of the MLB’s most respected players. The American League All-Star was voted in as a designated hitter and his fellow players selected him as a pitcher. This is the first time in MLB history a player was named an All-Star as a position player and as a pitcher. Even with his impressive season, Ohtani did not get the most votes, that honor went to Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with 2,704,788 votes. Check out the full list of starters below.
