The Road to Wrestlemania begins this weekend with the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble. The 35th edition of the premium live event will feature superstars from Raw, SmackDown, WWE Legends, Hall of Famers, and surprise returns vying for a shot at a men’s or women’s world championship at Wrestlemania 38.

Created by WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson in 1988, the Royal Rumble match is a modified battle royal where participants enter at timed intervals, and they’re eliminated after being thrown over the top rope once both feet touch the floor. The last WWE Superstar standing in the ring will go on to main event Wrestlemania and receive a world championship shot.

The Royal Rumble is the third oldest WWE PPV event and has created many historic moments over the past three decades. Fans can check out the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble Match on the company’s YouTube page.
