Hulu Adds Complete Libraries of Bob’s Burgers, American Dad!, Futurama & More

Today Hulu and 20th Century Fox have agreed to expand their streaming video on-demand libraries with a new agreement that adds the complete libraries of top animated hits from the studio to Hulu. Starting today Hulu is the exclusive subscription video on-demand home to the full run of Emmy-winning comedy, Bob’s Burgers, as well as home to all seasons of The Cleveland Show. The deal will also bring hit shows including the complete library of Futurama and all past seasons of American Dad! to Hulu in the coming weeks according to a statement Hulu sent Cord Cutters News.

This would explain why these shows have been leaving Netflix over the last few months. It also marks one more exclusive Hulu has taken away from Netflix.

“Since our inception, one of the things that has consistently remained true is that Hulu viewers love animation. That’s why we are incredibly proud to offer even more beloved animated comedies through this new deal,” said Lisa Holme, Hulu’s Vice President of Content Acquisition.

“We are thrilled to license these iconic adult animated series to Hulu, and to further support their position as the leader in offering this type of award winning animation,” said Evan Scheffel, Executive Vice President, The Americas, 20th Century Fox Television Distribution.

The new deal is just one more in a growing list of recently-announced agreements with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution and Hulu for exclusive subscription streaming video on-demand home to this year’s #1 drama series, This Is Us, as well as hits Fresh Off the Boat, Empire, The Last Man on Earth, Homeland and more.

Is Family Guy on the list? That’s always been a big killer for me is Netflix has always had all the seasons of Family Guy.

On a side note I am so happy Bob’s burgers is finally fully on Hulu; interestingly this is the first time, I think, American Dad’s back catologue has been put on a streaming service.

A few quick notes: [1] AD episodes only go to season 9, so for now most of the TBS episodes are AWOL. [2] Right now, both Hulu & Netflix have FG, but I suspect you won’t see a renewal of FG on Netflix. [3] Hulu still has this year’s Simpsons, but expect those to switch over to FXNOW exclusively.

I was hoping AD’s newer seasons would be on Hulu as well, that a shame.

Hulu is king, Netflix is the new HBO.

For cord-cutters who like content from traditional TV networks, Hulu is becoming an indispensable service. Netflix’s streaming service may have begun largely offering prior seasons of network TV shows but they’re slowly getting out of that game (while ramping up originals) and Hulu is scooping it up, which nicely complements the next-day access to current-season network shows that Hulu built itself on. If you don’t need sports or 24/7 news, Hulu alone (plus free OTA TV if you can get it) makes for a nice, cheap replacement for cable.

Yeah Hulu has become our number one “on demand” streaming service by a long shot. Netflix is definitely second, but I watch at least 3-4x more content on Hulu than Netflix. If they would add AMC and Discovery networks and some kind of guide I would switch over in a second.

American Dad is not really ‘complete’ as it doesn’t include the TBS seasons…unless those are coming…but it’s been on Hulu for quite some time so they’re not really adding it…Futurama’s Comedy Central seasons are still on NF.

The cartoon shows blow everything else on TV away easily. FG, American Dad, South Park, Bob’s Burgers, Rick & Morty, etc. Adult Swim stuff too.
