Hulu Adds More Local Channels to Their Live TV Beta

Yesterday Cord Cutters News started to receive word that Hulu has added more  local channels. It seems Tribune owned local FOX channels have been added to the service.

Hulu has yet to confirm the new channels but we have heard from multiple readers that confirmed the addition of new channels. This addition of these new locals would make Hulu the streaming service with the most local channels. Beating out Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and DIRECTV NOW when looking at local channels. (Note this is based on the last known number of local channels from each service.)

Update #1 It seems PlayStation Vue may have more locals but Sony has not released an official list. According to a fan list PlayStation Vue has about 90+ local channels.

Update #2 Hulu has sent Cord Cutters News the full list of FOX affiliates they added. Here is the official list:

Do any of these services ever include PBS? I have never seen it included.

I’m glad Hulu is adding more local channels but if you check your own site your would realize that statement about Hulu having the most local channels is incorrect.

Someone on Reddit is keeping a list, last count Vue had over 90+ CBS local channels, not counting the other network locals. https://www.reddit.com/r/Vue/comments/5pylec/list_of_cbs_stations_available_on_playstation_vue/

I know, Sony does a terrible job of PR and marketing with Vue.

Would be nice if PS Vue would release that information. We have asked for it and Sony did not release the information.

So instead you write something you know is not true? The links above show that you know Vue added a ton of CBS channels, but then you just decide to ignore it in this article?

According to the last official list Vue had 54 channels. That is the number we used for the story and have updated to show the other figure. Cord Cutters News has contacted Sony multiple times for this information.

PS Vue has more locals than Hulu because it has almost all CBS stations covered. I don’t think they’ve released the official full list but that doesn’t take away the fact that they do have more than Hulu.

For people in Europe like me, this sound always ridicilous that you can watch all four major station everywhere in the country…in Poland wherever you go, you can have antenna and watch all base channels of TVP, Polsat, TVN.
Just like that..no affiliate stations nonsence..

Yeah, but there are reasons… What many Europeans may forget is that all of Europe is only slightly bigger than all of the United States. So the US needs many more stations than any European country (not counting Russia, which extends across Asia). It seems Poland has 200 TV broadcast stations while the US has over 2200, that’s 11 times as many. Also the US has laws that attempt to prevent monopolies, so no one company is allowed to own stations whose broadcast areas collectively cover more than 39% of the country’s households.
