Since launch, Hulu has sold Showtime as an add-on for $8.99 a month. This price was lower than if you purchased Showtime through the Showtime app at $10.99 a month. Now Hulu has announced they will be changing the price of Showtime to $10.99 in November.
With the Showtime add-on you get on-demand Showtime content just like you would if you subscribed to the Showtime app, so it should not be a surprise that Hulu is moving to match the price.
Hulu has not stated why they are making the change, but they will probably not be the last to make this move.
With Hulu giving almost 3 months’ notice, it is possible that other services will also be raising their prices later this month; however, some services have been known to give limited warning of upcoming price or lineup changes. For now, we will have to wait and see if other services will also raise the price of Showtime up to $10.99.
