In May, Hulu began testing Hulu Watch Party, a social feature allowing users to watch content with friends and family. At the time, the feature was only available to Hulu (No Ads) subscribers. Now, the streaming service is opening the feature up to all subscribers, including those with Hulu’s ad-supported plan, for a limited time.
Starting today, Hulu Watch Party is available for ad-supported views to watch all episodes of Pen15, to celebrate the premiere of the second season of the Hulu Original series on Friday, September 18. For the next 10 days, both Hulu and Hulu (No Ads) users will be able to create and join Watch Parties to stream the series.
Along with making Watch Party more widely available for a limited time, Hulu is updating the chat feature to look like a classic instant messenger chat room and integrating the show’s characters into the experience.
Currently only available on Hulu.com, Hulu Watch Party supports up to eight people per session. Viewers must be 18 years of age or older to access the feature.
