Hulu has named Kelly Campbell as the company’s new president. Hulu’s CEO, Randy Freer stepped down last month, following Disney taking control of the streaming service.
In the new role, Campbell will work alongside Disney’s film and TV teams on bringing original programming to Hulu. Campbell will report to Kevin Mayer, chairman of direct-to-consumer at Disney. With the new title of President, rather than taking over the role of CEO held by Freer, it seems that Disney plans to keep full control of Hulu with Campbell overseeing the streaming platform as it continues to be integrated into Disney’s direct-to-consumer.
“Kelly is an immensely talented leader who has been a driving force in defining Hulu’s brand vision and strategy,” said Disney streaming chief Kevin Mayer. “She has built a tremendous multi-talented team and developed strategic campaigns that helped double Hulu’s subscriber base. Our senior leadership team is excited to welcome her aboard and can’t wait to work together to further grow Hulu’s footprint in the US and beyond.”
