Hulu has a runaway hit on its hands, and it is moving quickly to lock up a second season.

“The response we’ve seen to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ in just one week since its premiere has been absolutely incredible,” said Craig Erwich, head of original content, in a statement. “‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is exactly the type of gripping and thought-provoking storytelling we want to bring to viewers.”

Hulu set the return of “The Handmaid’s Tale” for 2018. The second season will continue the story created by Margaret Atwood’s novel set in a dystopian future.

Netflix has slowly been building a great list of original shows including a soon-to-be-released “The Looming Tower” and past hits “11.22.63,” “The Patch,” “The Mindy Project,” and “Chance.”

This week Hulu has also been busy launching its new live TV streaming service, giving subscribers the option to add live TV on top of their on-demand content from channels such as FOX, NBC, and ABC along with great Hulu originals.

Once again the best TV is not on cable but available only through streaming services such as Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video.
