March Madness ends tonight, and a new champion will be crowned in the 2022 Men’s National Championship Game. The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, will host all the action between No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels and No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks as they leave it all on the floor.
After defeating No. 2 Villanova 81-65 in the Final Four, the Jayhawks advanced to the title game. The program is looking to secure its fourth title since the NCAA tournament began in 1939. They are 9-time runner ups with their last championship in 2008 and their last appearance in 2012. They’ve played the Tar Heels 11 times, with the Heels leading the all-time series 6-5. However, the two programs have met 6 times in the tournament, and the Jayhawks lead 4-2.
North Carolina is coming off a huge 81-77 Final Four win against No. 2 Duke. The Heels sent their bitter rivals home packing and Coach K into retirement and will be looking to cap off Hubert Davis’ first season with a national title. The Tar Heels are making their 12th title appearance and have won 6 titles in program history. 2017 was the last time the Heels climbed the summit and won a national title.
