It is starting to feel like every month a new cord cutting service is launching. In March we received the new PlayStation Vue service and now, in April, we get a standalone Starz service.
In just over the last year cord cutters have been swamped with a ton of new services including HBO NOW, Showtime, Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and now Starz.
Starz’s new cord cutting service is an all-in-one application that will not only allow you to stream your shows but download them also for offline viewing. The service will start at just $8.99 per month, making it one of the most inexpensive standalone premium services out there.
At launch the lineup includes over 2,400 selections—from premium movies like Avengers: Age of Ultron to shows like “Outlander”—with new content added monthly.
Currently the service is only available for iOS, Apple TV, and Android. If you have a Roku or Fire TV you can subscribe to Starz through the new Amazon Prime Video service and have their content available to you through the Amazon Video app.
“Starz has entered the market today with an enormous value proposition for consumers. Our programing will now be more widely available to the 20 million broadband only homes of cord nevers, cord cutters and cord shavers, including Millennials and other under served consumers who need other viable subscription service options,” said Starz CEO Chris Albrecht in a statement.
