For years it has been said that streaming was mostly something teens and 20 somethings did. Now according to a new study from Ovum, Americans 35-44 are the most likely to subscribe to a streaming service according to a presentation at NAB from Tony Gunnarsson Ovum Principal Analyst.
According to Ovum, people aged 35-44 are the most likely group to have a streaming service. The second most likely group of people to subscribe to a streaming service is people aged 45-54. Even people over the age of 70 are getting into streaming services as 20% of people 70 and older now subscribe to a streaming service.
It was also announced that in 2018 half of all cable and satellite TV subscribers also subscribe to a streaming service like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.
In this report it is reported that by 2022 only 20% of Americans will exclusively pay for a traditional pay-TV service. 80% of Americans will be streaming content exclusively, using an antenna, or having a combination of traditional pay-TV service and streaming services.
