Early this week we posted about what are the most popular devices cord cutters use. In that same survey we also asked if they planned to get a new streaming player this year what device would it be? This gives us an idea of what the most popular streaming players will be going forward. Here’s what they said.
- 13.9% said they would be buying a Roku.
- 5% said they plan to buy a Fire TV device.
- 2.5% want to buy an Apple TV.
- 1.9% said they would be buying an Nvidia Shield.
- 1.5% will be buying another streaming device.
- And 75.2% said they don’t have plans to purchase a new streaming player.
Those results line up with a report from the beginning of the year showing which streaming players are the most popular overall with cord cutters. According to the report from Conviva, Roku is the most popular streaming plater, followed closely by Fire TV.
The majority of the 3000+ individuals who took the survey said that they don’t have plans to purchase a new streaming player. With talk of new streaming players from companies including Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV this year, will more options influence that decision?
Are you planning to purchase a new player this year? Are you happy with the setup you’re using currently? Would more options change your mind? Let us know in the comments!
