The most intriguing matchup of tonight will be between the Jazz and Mavericks. The Jazz are the only team playing today that pulled off a road upset during Game 1. The Mavs were without superstar Luka Doncic in Game 1 and will be without him tonight due to a calf injury. The Jazz were able to win a low-scoring game 99-93, and the Mavs will need someone to step up if they don’t want to head to Salt Lake City down 2-0.

Game 2 of Hawks-Heat should be the game of the night During Game 1, Trae Young did not live up to his ‘Ice Trae’ moniker in the way he wanted to after scoring 8 points and going 1-12 from the field, 0-7 from 3 point range, and 6-7 from the charity stripe. Young had an unusually cold night in Miami and will look to redeem himself after the Hawks were defeated 115-91 on Sunday. Defensively, the Hawks will have to find out a way to slow down Duncan Robinson who put up a game-high 27 points.

Joel Embiid and the 76ers travel to Canada to take on the Raptors in Game 3 and the Sixers will be without Matisse Thybulle, one of their best defenders. Thybulle isn’t able to enter Canada due to his vaccination status, which makes the next two games must-wins for the Raptors. After winning the season series 3-1, the Raptors have been outscored in the first 2 playoff games by a combined 35 points and will need a huge game from Pascal Siakam if they want to turn the series around.

The Warriors have come out to play in the first two games of their series against the Nuggets. Third-year guard Jordan Poole has been playing at an All-Star level this round, setting an NBA record for most made threes in two career playoff games with 10, and scored a combined 59 points through 2 games. Poole’s emergence has unlocked the second coming of the Warriors ‘Death Lineup’ which allows the team to play small and push the pace. In 11 minutes through 2 games, the lineup of Poole, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green are +29, and have an offensive rating of 204.3 points per 100 possessions to Denver’s 75. If the Nuggets can’t turn it around tonight in the Mile High City then reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic could be facing his second postseason weep in as many years.

Jazz 77 at Mavs 102 (Game 5; Series Tied 2-2) | 9:30 PM | TNT |
The Jazz-Mavericks series will highlight the evening as tonight’s pivotal Game 5 could change the course for both franchises. Luka Doncic made his return for the Mavs in Game 4 and scored 30 points in Utah but the Mavs were defeated 100-99. The series heads back to Dallas and Luka would like to close out the series and get out of the first round for the first time in his career. The Jazz have been off note, after dropping 2 games to a Luka-less Mavs, if they manage to lose this series then at least one of the three between head coach Quin Snyder, Rudy Gobert, and Donovan Mitchell may not be returning to Salt Lake City next season.

The Hawks are looking to scathe off elimination when they travel to South Beach to take on the Heat. The Hawks were able to pull off a 111-110 upset in Game 3 but after getting blown out 110-86 in Game 4, tonight’s game is a must-win. Trae Young earned his ‘Ice Trae’ moniker during last year’s postseason and he will have to rewind the clock if the Hawks are to continue their playoff journey.

In the early game, the Chicago Bulls will be looking to keep their championship dreams alive as they travel to Cream City to take on the Bucks. During the regular season, the Bulls went 0-4 against their Central Division rivals and are currently 1-3 in the postseason. After losing All-Star Khris Middleton earlier in the series, the Bucks haven’t missed a beat after winning the past two games in the series by double digits.
Reigning NBA MVP and favorite to win the 2022 award Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets are staring at elimination if they do not pull off a victory against the Warriors at the Chase Center tonight. Jokic had 37 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds in the Nuggets 126-121 Game 4 win. Jokic was able to get solid contributions from his teammates, with two other players scoring over 20 points, which is something that did not happen in the first 3 games that they lost.

Of all the teams that are leading their series, the Philadelphia 76ers have the most pressure on them to close out and advance to the next round. After getting off to a 3-0 lead, the Sixers have let the Raptors hang around and win two straight. Game 6 will take place in Toronto but the Raptors will be without All-Star Fred VanVleet which means tonight’s game is the perfect opportunity to close out for the Sixers.
The pressure is building up in the City of Brotherly Love, Sixers coach Doc Rivers has coached three teams that have blown a 3-1 lead in the playoffs, and when asked about his collapses he said the following:
If the Sixers end up losing tonight then Game 7 heads back to Philadelphia, and another loss would make Rivers the first coach in NBA history to blow a 3-0 lead.
