Netflix nearly got away with a clean sweep of the entire chart this week, with only Disney+ disrupting its streak in the Movies category.
It’s another big week for Netflix’s Outer Banks series. The show clocked 1.1 billion minutes of streaming time during the week ending August 15, making it the leader of Originals and the top title overall. The show has a wide demographic split nearly evenly between all ages. It turns out, everyone loves a good treasure hunt.
Netflix swept the top ten spots in the overall category, with All American and Vivo in second and third place with more than 800 million minutes each, followed by Cocomelon and Grey’s Anatomy.
Netflix also managed to lock down every spot on the Original’s list lead by Outer Banks, with Hit & Run, Grace and Frankie, and Virgin River all grabbing spots. None of them came close to reaching this week’s viewing standard set by Outer Banks though. The second placeholder had just 549 million minutes, and down from them.
As for movies, Netflix once again lead with its animated film Vivo banking 802 million minutes, followed by The Kissing Booth 3. Disney+ made third place with Luca which has a very similar young demographic as the Lin Manuel-Miranda voiced Vivo, and Jungle Cruise slid to No. 6. The family adventure film is still currently under the Premier Access paywall on Disney+.
