Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistanceis a prequel to the 1982 Jim Henson film. While fans of the 1980s film will get all of the nostalgia of the original film, new viewers will be introduced to the world of Thra.
Here’s how Gizmodo describes The Dark Crystal:
The Dark Crystal is a fantasy story about Jen, a Gelfling who’s tasked with restoring balance to the world of Thra by repairing the titular Dark Crystal, which had lost a shard a thousand years ago. During his quest, he comes across the only other surviving Gelfling, a young female named Kira, and together they fight the evil Skeksis and save the world.
In the new trailer for the prequel, we see the classic puppetry, true to Jim Henson’s legacy, along with stunning visual effects.
“As power-hungry overlords drain life from the planet Thra, a group of brave Gelfling unite on a quest to save their world and fight off the darkness,” said Netflix.
The series features an impressive line-up of voice actors, like Taron Egerton, Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Eddie Izzard, Harvey Fierstein, Andy Samberg and Sigourney Weaver as The Narrator.
The 10 episode series will premiere on Netflix on August 30th.
