Just in time to get you in the mood for college football, Netflix has a new documentary coming out.
Last Chance U is a gut-wrenching behind-the-scenes look at the world of college football. Inspired by the GQ article of the same name, Last Chance U follows the stories of elite athletes in tough life circumstances who struggle to find their redemption on a champion community college football team and hopefully realize their dreams of competing at the next level in this six-part documentary series.
This is not the first Netflix original documentary about sports. The Short Game was a Netflix first original documentary about sports and was also their first original documentary back in 2013. The Short Game, follows the lives of a handful of the best 7-year old golfers in the world as they train for and compete in the World Championships of Junior Golf.
You can also find The Battered Basters of Baseball, a Netflix original documentary. This is the colorful true story of the Portland Mavericks, a scrappy, independent baseball team of underdogs started by actor Bing Russell in the 1970s.
With the addition of Last Chance U, Netflix now has 21 original documentaries covering a range of topics from political documentaries to documentaries about people you may never have heard of. Last Chance U will come to Netflix July 29, 2016.
