After many, many tests, Netflix has finally made its shuffle feature official with the launch of the Play Something button.

The button was designed to help Netflix users skip the browsing and go directly to a title that was chosen based on titles they’ve watched before and viewing preferences.

When you click “Play Something” you’ll be taken to a movie or TV show that was picked for you based on your watch history. If you’re not interesting, click “Play Something Else” and you’ll be taken to one of the following:

  • A brand new series or film,
  • A series or film you’re already watching,
  • A series or film on your list, or
  • An unfinished series or film you may want to revisit

You’ll find the Play Something button under your profile name, on the tenth row of your Netflix homepage, and on the navigation menu on the left side of the screen so you’ll always be able to access the feature quickly when you don’t want to spend time scrolling through the library of titles.

The button is being rolled out on the Netflix app on TVs but the company plans to start testing on mobile devices.
