Netflix launched a new feature that will allow the app to download content to your mobile device based on your watching preferences.

The Downloads For You feature will automatically download recommended shows and movies to your device. “Whether you’re a comedy fan stuck on a long car ride or a rom com lover without internet, we do the work so there is always something new waiting to entertain and delight you,” Netflix wrote in an announcement about Downloads For You.

This is a completely optional feature that gives subscribers control over how much content is downloaded or if no content is downloaded at all. Content is downloaded when you’re connected to Wi-Fi and after the show or movie is downloaded, you can choose to delete the content after you’ve watched or if you’re not interested in a title, to free up space for more downloads.

To opt-in to Downloads For You:

  1. Go to the Downloads tab on your mobile device and toggle on Downloads For You.
  2. Choose the amount of content you want downloaded to your device (1GB, 3GB, or 5GB) and click Turn On. The more space you allow, the more recommendations Netflix will download for you.

The feature is available for Android devices beginning today and Netflix says it will test the feature on iOS soon.
