Netflix Will Release at Least One New Movie Per Week in 2021

Netflix has turned a new leaf by releasing the list of every movie it will premiere this year, and there are 70 of them. The streamer promises it will release at least one new film every week through 2021.

While Netflix movies back in the day used to have a relatively unknown acting cast list, the streamer has upped its game and now releases originals with A-list actors. The lineup for 2021 includes some hefty star power, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Meryl Streep, Zendaya, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, Gal Gadot, Dave Bautista, Naomi Watts, Jake Gyllenhaal, John David Washington, Octavia Spencer and more.

With many theaters out of commission over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, streaming services have been given a leg up on being the go-to source for movies. Even without a global health crisis, SVOD is rapidly becoming the clear choice for entertainment. Netflix is one of the leaders in providing what would be considered “blockbuster” movies outside of the theater. And with so many others now in competition, it seems like Netflix decided revealing it’s 2021 lineup would be a smart move to build anticipation.

You can see the full 2021 film slate below, and synopses for each title here. More titles are likely to be added throughout the year.
