A new spin-off of Disney’s live-action Aladdin is in the works, according to reports. The spin-off will be a Disney+ exclusive and centered around a Prince Anders, a minor character from the 2019 movie.

Actor Billy Magnussen will return to his role as the Prince, who was introduced as one of Princess Jasmine’s suitors in the recent live-action Aladdin which grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. The new spin-off will enlist the same producers, Dan Lin and Jonathan Elrich. According to producers, Magnussen is having a hand in creating the storyline and premise for the new spin-off.

Disney has had a lot of success remaking its classic animated films into live action versions. The Lion King and Aladdin  both did well at the box office over this summer, and Lady and the Tramp made it’s exclusive Disney+ debut at the streaming service’s launch this fall. However, this will be the first time one of Disney’s live action films will prompt a spin-off.

There’s no word yet on when the film will be available on the Disney+ Platform, but the feature is currently in the early stages of production, so we can probably expect to see it late 2020 or in 2021.
