Newsy, a channel focused on “concise, unbiased video news and analysis” will no longer be available on live TV streaming services including YouTube TV.

The news doesn’t come as a surprise. In April, Newsy shared its plans for transitioning from an MVPD channel to over the air.

“The MVPDs have exclusivity agreements in their cable contracts, so we cannot distribute Newsy on both cable and OTA,” a Scripps spokesperson said at the time. “We have told our cable distributors that we will be ending Newsy carriage with them as of June 30.

YouTube TV subscribers were informed that the change has gone into effect with an email saying:

We are writing to let you know that starting June 30, 2021, the Newsy channel will no longer be available on YouTube TV. Newsy recently changed its distribution model and will no longer be made available to streaming providers like YouTube TV. As such, starting June 30, you will lose access to any previous recordings from this channel.

The Newsy app is still available on Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, and Android and iOS. The channel is also available on free streaming services including Haystack News, Plex, Pluto TV, Redbox, The Roku Channel, STIRR, and XUMO.
