youtube tv logoOver the weekend several Cord Cutters News readers received a billing update from YouTube that included a $10 price hike. There was even a post on Reddit about the same issue that is now getting a lot of attention. Now Google is telling customers who received these emails that it was a mistake and YouTube TV is not going up in price.

This news comes at a time that both AT&T TV NOW and Hulu are both raising their prices. This has left many cord cutters jumpy about any possible price hike especially as YouTube TV has already had two price hikes.

There is one more fact that would support Google’s claim that this is a bug. It would be very strange for YouTube to have its new price be $60.99. Typically google tries to stick to round numbers like $60 or $59.99. Having the price at $60.99 is a very unusual price change for Google.

Could YouTube TV raise its price in the future? Yes, but right now Google is being clear that they are not announcing a price hike on YouTube TV at this time.
